Well the bass are up even though the gills aren’t quite yet. Caught a nice bass on my tenkara rod today.
The rod handled him very well. I was very impressed with it’s ability. Saw lots of big bass chasing up close to shore, but only one cove with some bluegill in it. I caught this guy on a cypret minnow, and stuck one on an actual tenkara fly. I stuck two more with a prince nymph, but all three came off. I am guessing I didn’t get a good enough set which is something I will have to look into. Tenkara rods have a nice soft action which helps keep the tippet from breaking off, but does not allow for a good hook purchase. despite the late freeze just last Monday which killed a lot of vegetation spring has sprung.
